When it comes to marketing an event, it can be very different from organizing the whole event. The only thing that is when you do everything yourself, you are able to have and see more benefits than if you didn’t.

One of the reasons why you should organize your own event is the control. You can have complete and total control over everything. You can make all the decisions and not have to wait for someone to get back to you on the answer, because you have direct communication with the vendors and event details.

The second reason why you should organize your own event is the money that you will save. You can save so much money when it comes to planning your own event. You don’t have to pay the planner a salary or other fees and expenses involved with an event planner. This will save you thousands of dollars to spend on the event or to save.

You will also find that when you plan your own event you can make changes anytime. When it comes to the planner you have to call them, then they call the vendor, then they call you, and then you find out if the change is possible or not. When it comes to making changes you can do them at anytime and you get to talk to your vendors directly to see if the change is possible. Basically, you see results faster.

As for the fourth reason, you don’t have that third person opinion. Sometimes it can be a good thing that you don’t have someone talking you out of some type of decision. When you lack the opinion of the planner you are able to do whatever you want with the event. You have complete creative control over the event.

Another good reason to plan your own is something that you know a little bit about. In fact, when you plan the event yourself you are able to market the event through the media channels that you would like and through the means of what you prefer. You’re ads are exactly what you want them to be like. You get to control the image of the event.

As for the sixth reason, it is a little bit different. You should do everything yourself just for the simple knowledge that you really do know that it is being taken care of. This way you know exactly what needs to be done and what has been handled. This is one of the most common reasons why people plan parties themselves.

You should also think about the fine details. You can have complete control and even over the fine details that no one really notices. You can choose everything and you know exactly what needs to be fixed or changed because you can see if things look good or bad during the planning process.

Another good reason is the fact that when it comes down to it, everything is exactly how you would have liked them to be. You fix the problems and issues like you would hope that they’d be fixed. Everything is done to your liking and you know this. Nothing is a surprise to you.

The ninth reason why you should plan your own event has to real with the fact that you can control your spending. You know where you splurged and where you can cut back. Your budget is set and everything is controlled to match the budget. You know right off what things are going to cost and what you need to do to get things to balance the budget.

The last reason why you should plan your own event is the fact that you know your planning status at all times. You know when you should be able to relax and when you need to move the planning forward and quickly.

On the last Friday, the Specific Media was hammering out deal points with News Corp. over its $35-million acquisition of Myspace, the digital media company’s founders, the brothers Tim and Chris Vanderhook, met with Winnaman and Justin Timberlake manager at the futuristic Encounter Restaurant at Los Angeles International Airport to talk about a potential partnership.

And on Monday, the Vanderhooks boarded a flight to New York to meet Timberlake in person the following day.On Tuesday night, lawyers for Timberlake and Specific Media were racing to close the partnership deal in time for Wednesday’s acquisition announcement.

Justin Timberlake manager, Johnny Wright, said his client, whose career spans many forms of media, including music, film and television,
recognizes the power of social media in shaping pop culture. In “The Social Network,” Timberlake portrayed Sean Parker, an Internet entrepreneur who helped Facebook Inc. founder Mark Zuckerberg secure financing for his fledgling website.

Vanderhook said he and his brothers understand digital advertising and how to move traffic on the Internet. He said he hopes Timberlake will be able to give the flagging site renewed social relevance.

Vanderhook said:”Justin is a tremendously bright guy who is really passionate about the opportunity for artists to build a community with fans,” he added “He’s excited about the platform and the ability to interact with his fans. He’s well aware of the all the unique opportunities that digital media affords someone like him. He will use the platform himself and show other artists how to use it,” informs LATimes.com

Relationship Marketing is targeted at building stronger and long lasting relationships with clients and other companies. The business is done with a strategic orientation, where the relationship is improved with existing customers rather than finding new customers. It is meant to cater to the needs of individual customers. Its major part involves studying the need of the customer and how it changes in different circumstances.

Relationship marketing applies techniques like marketing, sales, customer care and communication. The relationship is not only enhanced but its life period is increased by these strategies. And as the customer realizes the value of relationship, they are drawn closer. This marketing not only focuses on building relationship and attracting customers to their products and services but also how to retain them.

A raw form of Marketing came into existence in the 1960s. But, organizations were still facing difficulty in selling products, so a system was developed to sell low cost goods to larger group of customer. Leonard Berry and Jag Sheth originated this marketing, in 1982. It was started in B2B markets and industries, which involved long term contracts for many years. Over the period of time, various marketing strategies were improved and relationship marketing was one of them.

Relationship marketing is applicable where the customers have many options in the market for the same product or service and the customer is entitled to make a selection decision. In such a kind of market, businesses try to maintain their clients by providing comparatively better products and good service and hence, achieving customer loyalty. And once it is achieved it becomes difficult for competitors to do well in the market. The customer turnover wasn’t paid attention on as the main attention was on customer satisfaction. This kind of marketing was initially named as defensive marketing. Offensive marketing is the marketing strategy where not only new customers are attracted, but also the sales are stepped up by increasing the purchase frequency. This kind of marketing concentrates on freeing dissatisfied customers and acquiring new customers.

According to a research, the cost of retaining an old customer is only ten percent of the cost of getting a new customer, which makes sense to not to run around to get new customers in relationship marketing. And according to another research done by cross-sectional analysis, says that, a five percent improvement in customer retention is responsible for twenty-five to eighty-five percent of the profit. Usually high cost is incurred when getting new customers, so if sufficient number of existing customers is retained, there will be no need of acquiring new customers.

Once the customer trust is gained his chances of switching to other company becomes relatively less, he buys goods in bulk, he buys other supplementary goods and he starts neglecting average price variation. This maintains the unit sales volume and there is an increase in dollar-sales volume. The existing customers will be like a living advertisement. If he is satisfied with the company he will recommend it to his friends and acquaintances.

Since the existing customers are familiar with the process, it will take less time and money to educate them about the procedures putting fewer burdens on employees also and making them feel more satisfied with their jobs. The customers are divided into groups based on their loyalty. This procedure is known as relationship ladder of customer loyalty. The groups in ascending order are prospects, customer, client, supporter, advocate and partner.

Due to the advancement in computers and Internet, software has been developed to facilitate customer relationship management. With the help of this software the tastes, activities, preferences, and complaints of customers are tracked. Almost all the companies have this software in their marketing strategy, which benefits the customer as well as the company.

Thus the main aim of relationship marketing is to construct and maintain relationship with committed clients who are meant to bring profit to the company. The other benefits achieved are confidence building and social benefits.

Different approaches should be taken when selling products or services to a man when compared to a woman. As they say that men are from mars and women from Venus both of them think very differently and hence, their thinking should be influenced by different methods.

For example, when a man decides to buy a car he looks out for the latest model, speed, mileage, etc. But when a woman goes out to buy a car she will choose a car depending on the color. She would like it match it either with her work dress or accessories like watch and will be concerned whether there is enough space to store her necessities. Because their psychologies differ so much, they should be convinced to buy a product using different methods.

Presentation is also very important. The salesperson talking to a male client doesn’t have to concentrate much on looks and cleanliness. It is okay if he doesn’t have the required documents on hand and his sleeves are folded up. But when the same salesperson is referring to a female client, he should be spotless from head to toe. He should comb his hair properly, have manicured nails and even his shoes should be well-polished. The salesperson should be prepared with all the necessary documents before hand and shouldn’t go rushing in front of the customer. Women seek perfectionism.

Words should be spoken with extra care in front of a woman customer. Women are better listeners and they will analyze each spoken word. A lot of emotion should be involved in the talking because women are drawn to emotions immediately. Like when selling clothes to a lady, tell her how you will feel bad for her if she has to sweat badly in the summer due to her nature of job. Pick a nice cotton dress for her and ask her to try it. The customer will be highly touched and will take less time to buy the product. Seventy five percent of the job is done if she is won emotionally.

Next important point is to never stop talking in front of the female customer. The moment the salesperson stops talking, she will start thinking deeply about the product and will start examining every detail of the product and will give a second thought to the product. Women have the capability of multi-tasking. They will be able to listen as well as read the manual at the same time. So keep her involved into many things at a time. A man lacks the talent of multi-tasking. If a male client gets involved with something else, stop speaking immediately because he will be unable to concentrate on both the things and it will lead him into a confusion state.

Another point to be taken care of is, it’s not a good idea to have a woman salesperson when a male client is to be handled. Women talk a lot and men are bad listeners. The woman salesperson will go on and on about the product and the man will just nod his head without getting any meaning out of it. They will not able to express properly whether they are getting the point or not. But on the other hand, a woman client can easily express how much she has followed. Even if they don’t speak it out, her facial expressions will tell it all. So when a salesperson is dealing with a female customer, he or she should watch out for the client’s expressions. If she shows any state of confusion or dislike, try taking a different approach.

Men clients can be made to understand about the product by simply drawing the outlook of the product using a simple pen and paper. Men have a good capability of visualizing the three dimensional images of the product which is being referred to. But women are not so good that. To present a clear picture, the sample or the actual product should be shown to her.

Complimenting a male customer is a very good idea. He will be over whelmed and will take it in a good sense. But a woman is a careful listener, so any compliment should be given with extra care. Any fake compliment will be immediately detected.

For many, retirement seems like a far-away stage of their lives, filled with carefree days with nothing to do but travel, sip wine and watch the sun set. While this may be the reality for some, for most people who don’t budget properly for retirement, their golden years are filled with work and penny pinching, not relaxing. Planning a budget for retiring is extremely important and a vital tool to properly saving.

A commonly used mathematical approach is to say that you need, on average 70 or 80 percent of what you make now per year to live on once you retire. A big part of what you need to figure in is how you plan on spending your retirement years. If you’re looking to travel the world and stay at 5-star hotels, you might want to budget on the high side. If you’re happy staying at home and relaxing, you can budget on the lower end.

To figure out your retirement budget, there a few things you need to do. First, figure out where your retirement income is going to come from and how much of it there will be. Most people get retirement income from a variety of sources like the 401(k) plan they had at various jobs they worked over the years, social security payments, retirement investments and savings as well as any possible income from a job that you would work after retirement. To figure how much you would be getting from social security, check the statements they send you in the mail and the amount you would be getting is broken down there.

The next logical step is to try to estimate your list of expenses. While this can be extremely difficult for those that are looking decades ahead, it’s best to try to put together some kind of plan. The best way to approach it is to itemize your expenses and break them down by category, such as living expenses, utilities, health care and so on.

A few final tips that can help you in the long run is to try to take care of all of your debt before you retire. Paying off the credit cards or your mortgage in one lump sum will help you out in the long run.

Don’t forget any possible dependants. If you are responsible for the expenses of others, you must figure them in, too.

Retirement can either be a wonderful time filled with happiness or it can be a scary time filled with uncertainty. The road you walk down is up to you. The choices you make now will influence how you spend the best years of your life.

For most people, investing in mutual funds is pretty straight forward. You have specific goals that need to be met. You and your partner are approaching mutual fund investing with your eyes open and you’re both on the same page. Granted, she may want that pretty cottage down by the lake and you want that new speedboat, but both your goals involve water, and that’s close enough for you. But what if you’re in a completely different boat? What if you know you need to invest, but you have two equally important goals pulling you two different ways? This is the case with thousands of parents who see the need to save for retirement but also want to save for the kids’ college education. How can you do both at the same time? Here are a few tips.

One of the biggest factors in the college vs. retirement battle is the fact that people are putting off having kids until later in life these days. Fifty years ago, this wasn’t the case, and saving for both college and retirement usually happened during two distinctly different phases in one’s life. These days, now that we realize that saving for retirement is something that should be started when you’re 18, not 48, the two overlap more than ever.

The gut instinct of most parents is to put the kids’ future ahead of their own and cut back on retirement savings in favour of college. While this is a popular choice, it really only should be a last resort. A technique that is becoming more and more popular with parents who face saving for both at once is offering your prospective college student the chance to get matching funds from you. This is simply the idea that for every dollar they pay for, you’ll match it. If your not sure how junior will pay for half, remember, there are many ways for teenagers to save for college themselves. Almost everyone qualifies for student loans, there are scholarships for good grades as well as an after school and summertime job. Most college students work while they are attending classes, as well.

While walking the tightrope of saving for two goals at once can be stressful, a logical and determined approach to the situation is really the only way to go. Choosing retirement over your kids’ education isn’t a “wrong” choice, and neither is choosing college over retirement. Everyone’s situation is different and you need to make the right choice for your situation.

The ex. CEO chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Co. Mark Hurd, is being considered for the No. 2 job at software giant Oracle Corp., the details are still being finalized, Mark Hurd is likely to join his longtime friend and sometime tennis partner Larry Ellsion,

Three days after Mark Hurd resignation, in an e-mail sent to the New York Times in August 6, Ellison called HP’s move “the worst personnel decision since the idiots on the Apple board fired Steve Jobs many years ago.”Mark Hurd had been credited with nearly doubling HP market value to $100 billion, in annual revenue, during his five years term at the Paolo Alto company, the big world larget computer maker.

On his record became tarnished after a contractor working for HP accused him of sexual harassment, and the company found that some of his expense reports were inaccurate. In the investigation conducted by an outside law firm hired by HP found no evidence of sexual harassment, and Mark Hurd reportedly settled with the contractor, Jodie Fisher. And the company said it had discovered the expense accounts irregularities as it was investigating the woman’s sexual harassment claim.

Mark Hurd would have at the software company was not disclosed. Oracle already has two presidents working under Ellison: Safra Catz and Charles Phillips.Mark Hurd repotedly since his resignation from HP, has received a number of job offers from public companies and provate equity firms, but as an executive who typically shuns the spotlight, Mark Hurd is a contrast to Ellison, who is regarded in Silicon Valley as brash and flamboyant.

Mark Hurd would bring to the table knowledge of running a company that makes industrials grade computers on which Oracle’s business software runs.In this year the Oracle company finalized its $7.4 billions acquisition of Sun Microsystems Inc., which owns the Solaris operating system, that powers the corporate database computers, as well as Java, and a platform that runs applications on mobile devices.

GM CEO Dan Akerson chose the UAW for the topic of his first companywide message,he says that he believes in cooperating with the group. In others have suggested the union could prove a challenge for the sacrifice-minded boss.
Dan Akerson said in a note to employees in honor of Labor Day on Monday:”Coming from a union family, I know on a very personal level the good things that unions can do”.

The GM CEO Akerson said he recently met with UAW President Bob King and Vice President Joe Ashton, who is the union’s lead GM negotiator, Akerson said in the note:”We agreed that, while we will not always see eye to eye on everything, GM will succeed to the extent that management and labor work together”.

Dan Akerson, General Motors fourth CEO since 2009, took over Wednesday after former CEO Ed Whitacre said he didn’t plan to stay long past GM’s initial public offering, planned for late this year. Some people who know Dand Akerson said he have difficulty working with the UAW, which will negotiate a new contract with General Motors next year and may ask to restore losses it agreed to ahead of GM’s bankruptcy.

Dan Akerson is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, and is know for urging subordinates to stop complaining and start working
Akerson said in the note:”There will always be more hard work ahead of us,” he also added “but because of your dedication, I have great optimism for GM’s future.”

Here is full text of the note wrote by Dan Akerson:

    GM Employees,

As Labor Day approaches in the U.S. and Canada, I would like to wish everyone at General Motors a safe, happy holiday weekend. I also ask that we pause for moment to reflect on what this day means as we celebrate labor’s many contributions here and around the world.

Of course, labor’s role in building up this nation and others is well recognized and rightly so. And, coming from a union family, I know on a very personal level the good things that unions can do.

I met recently with UAW President Bob King and Vice President-GM Department Joe Ashton at Solidarity House, and we agreed that, while we will not always see eye to eye on everything, GM will succeed to the extent that management and labor work together. I believe very deeply in that.

At GM, the devotion by employees to design, build and sell the world’s best vehicles shines through every day. Around the world, we rely on the hard work of our designers, engineers, union represented employees, marketers and corporate staff in the most challenging circumstances.

Many in the U.S. worked though our traditional summer downtime to keep our momentum going.

Please accept my sincere thanks for your commitment to General Motors. To employees around the world please know that your work is appreciated. To those in the U.S. and Canada, enjoy this three-day holiday.

There will always be more hard work ahead of us, but because of your dedication, I have great optimism for GM’s future.

    Dan Akerson
