Dominika Ciubulkova the Slovakia tennis player and Gael Monfils of France are on to the U.S. Open quarter-finals for the first time in their careers after posting straight set wins on Monday in the afternoon.Ciubulkova has eliminated the former Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova at Flushing Meadows, Ciubulkova rebounded after squandering two match points and to defeat the No. 11 Russian 7-5, 7-6.
Kuznetsova won the U.S. Open in 2004, she said: “I think she plays good, but my level is higher, and I have to win these matches.”
Just over one year ago Dominika Cibulkova was ranked a career-high 12th, but has dropped to 45th heading into the final Slam of the season.But her loss to Venus Williams at Wimbledon began a span of six losses in seven matches before she rebounded with a strong showing in New Haven, a week before the Open.
